this project came about. As a recent Ph.D. Candidate at Louisiana State University, I have had my share of up's and down's on this academic journey. From deciding what topic would interest me enough to willingly want to marry it (yes, you are literally married to your dissertation) to painfully trying to understand what in the world was the difference between epistemology, ontology and why Descartes was relevant in 2014, there were times that I wanted to just give up and quit. But I was fortunate to have a support system that consisted of my peers who were just as frustrated as I was on any given day, yet determined to make it happen, professors who believed in me and took out the time to encourage me here and there, and a few family and friends who would check on me as I wrote my "paper."
I want the PhDiva Project to serve as a source of inspiration, motivation and knowledge for other women out there who are either considering pursuing a Ph.D., in the mist of their course work or knee deep in writing their dissertation. A blog filled with insightful articles from myself about juggling school, work and parenthood (yes, I think I'm literally crazy sometimes too), I will be here to answer your questions, squash your fears and inspire you to reach for the stars as you work towards your dream of achieving that Ph.D.
